untold

forever, relentless
late amid a lemniscate,
the space between the lines
ever rending – surrounded
by the never ending,
closed in a space
where moonlight
skews with sunbeam queues.
banners flying underneath
the breathing of the winds bequeath
a conquest perpetually given
and in few words, love’s recognition.

NaPoWriMo 2013 Day 29

Positioning

It is the manner in which the drawbridge is lowered from the side of the castle wall, going from vertical to horizontal, that allows others entry into the inner courtyard.  A rain barrel beneath the down spout to catch deluge runoff from the roof in April to use in May.  The 3-2 breaking ball thrown in the sixth inning  with runners on first and third, and two outs.  A Bach bust figurine on the shelf facing out into the room, considering his thought of each note and the placement of same.  The care in a resting hand on her knee while she smiles into the gray skies. A potted ivy plant on a glass table across the room from the window.  A parting of the storm clouds filled by the waxing moon, visible from the castle tower.

Behind the poet

In the picture
there is an oval mirror,
framed in braided mahogany
and it gives a reflection
of a glass door
-openness to the room-
implying she likes big spaces.

Beneath the mirror sits
a stack of books, fore-edge only showing
-no spines-
so we don’t know the titles
but I’m certain it contains an
old copy of Leaves of Grass
and Through the Looking Glass.

Next to the stack of books
is a dinosaur figurine,
a tyrannosaurus slightly outstretched,
it’s tiny arms not quite reaching…
something
and in the right corner is the front half
of a small silver toy car,
a flashy memento
just coming into the picture.

If only the dinosaur
can reach the stack of books in time,
he will be safe.

I wonder what kind of day it was outside,
when this picture was made.
